Crisis at Strocem RMC: Significance of Operations Management

Abstract:
Strocem RMC is a Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) manufacturing plant owned by Deepak. As he is a civil engineer and knows the in and out of the entire manufacturing process, he alone manages all the operations of the plant. But of late he is unable to coordinate with the human resources and the supply chain requirement of the company. As a result, he has to face a shortage of workers in the production process and also received some complaints regarding the delays in delivering the product to his clients. When consulted, his friend Rajesh advises him to hire an operations manager. The case highlights the significance of Operations Management (OM) in any firm.
